The Worn Night Sky

Since I was very young I always believed the stars were tiny holes in the dark fabric of the night sky and that the sky had been put there, like covers, to protect us from the amazing brightness of God. I thought it was wearing out and it fascinated me that it was wearing out faster in the countryside, on hills, by the sea. And that big thumb hole seemed to get bigger and oddly smaller, changing shape as God turned restlessly in his sleep...I never stopped believing this.
-Thanks to Catherine for hanging them there so I could remember. :o)

Help

have the stars been on your mind lately? :-)
I love the image of the cover “wearing out”…. and god being a restless sleeper!
Oh god you're right. I forgot the acknowledgement. Doubly thanks Catherine. Ron
oh you didn't need to put an acknowledgment Ron:-) I was just pleased that the poem obviously hit a nerve. (and I loved your imagery)
How cool! (from a former Akronite.)
smiling.
The night is my blanket, dappled with diamond eyes, winking down upon me, reminding me I am never alone, that I am loved, that I am protected and when I remember these things I cease to be, there is simply This, the deep dark darkness of nightless night, the endless ocean, a multitude of us, each particle threading iridescent sequins into waves, each wave returning to the heart, each brilliant mirror weaving stars into the fabric of being and I glide across wings of beauty, the bright eyes of God ceaselessly watching and all is quiet, resonant, humming the lullaby of One.
Thank you Ron, Thank you Catherine, All… for reminding me :-)
Isn't it nice that we can share the night sky this way…
